Visit to a ceramic workshop and tasting of local products

During this experience you will discover the ceramics of Faenza, thanks to a visit to a workshop where you can learn about the various stages of the production process for the realization of a refined Faenza majolica: from enamelling, to decoration, to cooking. You will see the decorators at work and the craftsmanship of a work that has been handed down for centuries.

The workshop is adjacent to Casa Spadoni where you can taste local cold cuts and cheeses of Officine Gastronomiche Spadoni: the delicious cold cuts of Mora Romagnola and "Morabrada" and local cheeses, including Squacquerone DOP will be accompanied by our piadina romagnola.

Faenza is considered the City of Ceramics par excellence so much that its name in the French translation "Faïence" is the synonym that indicates the artistic ceramics, an art that finds splendid testimonies preserved at the International Museum of Ceramics of Faenza (MIC) one of the most important ceramic art museums in the world.

About the destination

Faenza is an important Romagna town, famous all over the world for the production of highly refined ceramics. The name "Faenza" has in fact become synonymous with the word "ceramic" in many other languages, including English (Faience) and French (Faïence). Of Roman origin, the city was an important political and cultural meeting point in the Middle Ages thanks to the leadership of the Manfredi Lordship. Today, the city stands out for its rich offer of art and gastronomy. As already mentioned, the heart of Faenza lies in the art of ceramics, in fact the MIC, the International Museum of Ceramics, has been one of the main museums in the world dedicated to it since 1908 and hosts works from every time and place from the Americas to the Far East, up to the masterpieces of local and Italian ceramic culture. A visit to this museum represents an engaging immersion in history and tradition that still binds and represents Faenza. Absolutely to visit because of great charm is the Torre di Oriolo, a stunning monument surrounded by fragrant vineyards, from whose top you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Romagna plain.
